The young black overo stallion was a rescue horse, on his way to Royal Ashcroft Stables where he would be rehabilitated; hundreds of horses were being rounded up and sent for slaughter. Stables across the world sought to stop this.

He was weak and malnourished; he had been blind in one eye since birth. His tatty coat and broken frame made him impossible to indentify, and yet despite it all he held his head with pride, eyes wide open.

During transit he stayed at a number of stables, including Timber Ridge. A mistake was made and he was placed in a paddock with several mares.

Several months after he had been moved the staff noticed that their mare Bri was pregnant, she has concealed it well, and the identity of the sire remained a mystery.

She foaled alone in a darkened field in the early hours of the day.
